How to engage in the WSIS+20 Review Process?

Official Meetings and Preparatory Sessions

Consultations

  • Participate virtually in the different Open Consultation Process meetings co-organised by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD.

    • WSIS+20 virtual stakeholder consultation sessions (9-10 June 2025)

      • Concept note available here.

      • The Co-Facilitators agreed to hold two sessions for different timezones on those days. Deadline to register for the sessions is on June 5, 2025.

      • Statements will be limited to 3 minutes and guided by the questions below:

        • To what extent and how has the vision of a "people-centred, inclusive and development-oriented Information Society" evolved over the past 20 years since WSIS?

        • What are the priorities and challenges to the implementation of WSIS outcomes today?

        • How can cooperation through the WSIS mechanisms, including multistakeholder dialogue and recently adopted the Global Digital Compact, enhance coherence in digital governance?

    • Final Brief of the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025 (June 10, 2025)

      • The Final Brief will take place on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, 14:00-15:00 CEST/UTC+2 in Room K2, ITU Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland.

      • This is the final meeting in the Open Consultation Process, providing the latest updates on preparations for the WSIS+20 High-Level Event, scheduled to take place from 7 to 11 July 2025.

  • The Co-facs can also hold more sessions as needed in the near future. In addition, they will be in various sessions in the upcoming fora below:

Advocacy Tips

  • Be clear and concise. Use straightforward language when submitting recommendations.

  • Link local issues to global challenges: Address regional press freedom or journalist safety issues.

  • Support multi-stakeholder governance: Highlight the value of inclusive governance and successful collaborations.

  • Share success stories: Use real-world examples to demonstrate the benefits of multi-stakeholder engagement.
