Digital Services Act: Summary report of the public consultation on guidelines for providers of very large online platforms and search engines on the mitigation of systemic risks for electoral processes (March 2024)

The public consultation on guidelines on mitigation of systemic risks for electoral processes pursuant to Article 35(3) of the Digital Services Act ran from 8 February to 7 March 2024. The guidelines present measures and best practices that very large online platforms (VLOPs) and search engines (VLOSEs) that have more than 45 million users in the EU, can use to mitigate systemic risks that may threaten the integrity of electoral processes.

The Commission published guidelines on recommended measures to Very Large Online Platforms and Search Engines to mitigate systemic risks online that may impact the integrity of elections, with specific guidance for the upcoming European Parliament elections in June.
